Was not it "she" that sank after a collision with a Norwegian freighter? Have me that it happened in the English Channel. Do not, however, what year.

Stämmer att hon förliste den 29 maj 1914 efter kollision med det norska lastfartyget SS Storstad. Fast det hände visserligen i Saint Lawrencefloden i Kanada, alltså inte i Engelska kanalen ;)

Studying the pictures of the City and the Empress of Ireland, one can see that the first mentioned was considerably less than the Empress. That was also City shot of the Empress of Ireland on her starboard side.

How could such a small ship lower so big?

It's not that weird. A cargo ship is the very heavy, and although it is small, it will be a lot of weight in it. Adding to the momentum of the cargo vessels, it becomes a violent force.
